You cannot deduct your union dues anymore.
Due to the new tax law change the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, ( TCJA), for 2018 through 2025, Congress suspends all miscellaneous itemized deductions ( Form 2106) that are subject to the 2 percent of adjusted gross income floor. This change affects un-reimbursed employee expenses such as job-related travels, uniforms, union dues and the deduction for business-related meals and entertainment. You will not be able to deduct any unreimbursed employee expenses on your 2019 tax return.

Turbo Tax 2017 will not let me enter additional job-related expenses because I entered my occupation as Teacher. So I'm limited to my $250 out of pocket expenses. This isn't right...either that or the Tax Code has changed not allowing union dues!
