I bought a second home, but when I interred the info and the interest paid on the loan into turbo tax my tax return amount never changed

It might be allowing the interest, but unless you Itemize Deductions (rather than taking the Standard Deduction) the interest won't matter.

Select Tax Tools on the left side-bar
Select Tools from that drop-down
Select “View Tax Summary” on the TOOLS CENTER screen
Select “Preview my 1040” which now appears on the left side-bar
