I am trying to find where I report SC automobile tax, but I found a contradiction on your site. One place it says in property tax, in another it says at car regestration

In the car registration fee area of the questionnaire it states "In South Carolina, you can deduct the personal property tax you paid on your vehicle. Enter that amount in Personal Property Taxes, not here.", and then when I look it up using search, I find the following information, "Recommended Answer:The vehicle property tax that is deductible in SC should be entered in the Vehicle Registration Fees section of your Federal return. "  which would it actually be?

This, from Turbo Tax help:

In South Carolina, you can deduct the personal property tax you paid on your vehicle. Enter that amount in Personal Property Taxes, not here.

To do that:

  1. Go to Cars and Other Things you Own

  2. Choose Start or Update by Personal Property Taxes

  3. Choose Yes.

  4. Enter the amount of tax.
