I am receiving a message that I have to upgrade from the free version because I have a financial account in a foreign country. I have said no to that question a few times

Anyone see this before or have any advice on where to where that information is coming from? I've gone back to check my work multiple times.

The foreign bank account question only comes up once in TurboTax. Even though you said No to the question, it's possible TurboTax may have entered the wrong answer.

Unfortunately, you can't go back to that question unless you delete your interest and dividends.

To change the foreign bank account question in TurboTax Online:

  • Click Tax Tools in the left column,
  • Click Tools,
  • Select Delete a Form in the center,
  • Find and delete Schedule B.

Deleting Schedule B will delete any interest (1099-INT) and dividends (1099-DIV) on your return. If you received interest and dividends, reenter those amounts before filing.

The foreign bank question will come up again. Be sure to say No again.

Thank you, I was able to get it to work doing it a little differently, it definitely seems like a bug or something like that based on what I have in the return. I deleted Schedule B and went back to that section and answered no to all the questions. Went to file and it said the same thing. I deleted Schedule B again and then went straight to Review and it returned it as an item for review. It gave me the questions from the form, I answered no to all of them and it then worked perfectly to file. Thank you for the help!
