Maybe. First, is your school an eligible educational institution - any college, university, trade school, or other post-secondary educational institution eligible to participate in a student aid program run by the U.S. Department of Education.
And second, if this equipment is required for your education, they will be included as expenses under the Education section. This would be included with expenses such as books and tuition and fees in order to determine the correct amount of expenses for your schooling.
Enter Education Expenses:
- Open your return.
- Click on Federal tab.
- Click on Deductions & Credits.
- Click on Education.
- Click on Start to right of Expenses and Scholarships (Form 1098-T).
- Answer interview questions.
