I am a Veterinarian Assistant. I am responsible for buying my own work uniform and appropriate shoes for my job. Can i get a tax credit/deduction?

My job does not have an allowance for uniform purchasing where they buy the scrubs or reimbursement for the amount that I paid out of pocket.

Do you get a W2 for work?  Then sorry no.  You can no longer deduct employee job expenses.

If you are an employee receiving form W-2, then these expenses are job-related expenses and aren't deductible.

Up to tax year 2017, job-related expenses were deductible as an itemized deduction subject to the 2% of AGI floor.

Under the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, the itemized deductions for job-related expenses subject to the 2% of AGI floor are suspended for expenses incurred after December 31, 2017 through 2025.
