I am a full time employee at a local hospital and I started a farm business at home last year. How do I file my taxes and what should I use on Turbo tax?

You will report your farm on Schedule F.

You will need TurboTax Self-Employed to report a Schedule F.

To report a farm in TurboTax:

  1. Go to the Income and expenses tab
  2. Select Rentals, Royalties, and Farm
  3. Then Farm Income and Farm Rental

Will I need to purchase the self employed turbo tax and the deluxe turbo tax for my other job? I have deductions. I did not make money from the farm. The crops died so I took a loss. I purchased a new tractor that I make payments with interest for the farm.I think I can write off the interest? Thank you for your help.

On the Self-Employed program, you can do both the personal and the Farm.

Business interest, depreciation for your tractor, and the loss of your crops are all included on your Farm return.
