I contributed to an HSA in 2019, under my individual limit. However, my spouse had an FSA, all of 2019 and I was covered under her policy. I removed my excess (the entire amount of my 2019 contribution) in May 2020. The HSA administrator said they won't be sending any 1099-SA until next year. From other answers here, I gather that TurboTax can automatically detect excess contributions, but it doesn't seem to have done so. How do I tell it about my wife's FSA? Or is there a manual way to specify the removed excess contribution as "other income" on my 2019 taxes?
And HSA and an FSA are not the same thing. However, because the FSA automatically covers both spouses, this means you have conflicting coverage. Instead of saying that you had a high deductible health plan and conflicting coverage, you just say you had no coverage so TurboTax gives you the correct tax treatment.
