How to change to itemize deduction for state if i choose standard for federal

Hi.

I use standard deduction for my federal income. However I want to use itemized deduction for my state income, how to do that in turbotax.

Thank you for your reply.

To be sure you get your itemized deductions for your state, be sure to enter all of your itemizable deductions in the Federal section. After your Federal return entries are complete, move on to your state. Go through the state interview and make any needed entries for items that are treated differently by your state.

TurboTax will automatically give you itemized deductions for your state if the state's criteria are met. Many, but not all, states let you take a different deduction than what you took on the federal. For example, Arizona and California let you itemize even if you took the federal standard deduction.

When starting your state taxes in TurboTax, we'll ask which deduction you want to take, assuming your state gives you that option.
