How should I report foreign income using TurboTax? (I will not get a W2, since my employer is, y'know, foreign.)

Please read this TurboTax Help topic on reporting foreign income.

Please note that wages is earned income and you might qualify for the foreign earned income exclusion.

Hi,

You refer to a link in your reply. The link says to Search for "foreign income" and then to "select the Jump to link in the search results".

This link is from last year. The solution may have worked properly in Turbotax 2020 but it does not work at all in my online version of Turbotax 2021. In my version there is no such "Jump to" link. In fact, the Search does not provide any information at all about how to enter Foreign Income without a W2. It only lists information about the Forein Income Credit.

NOTE: I am using the version which is Free until March 31, but I assume this "Jump to" option should work there as well. There is no message saying otherwise.

Please follow the steps below to report foreign income using TurboTax:

  1. Click on Tax Home from Left side Menu.
  2. Click on Wages & Income from the main screen and click on Review/ Edit/ Work on Other Income.
  3. Scroll Down to the very bottom and you should see a section titled " Less Common Income". Within this section, there should be an option for "Foreign Earned Income and Exclusion". Click on Start next to it. Then answer the questions accordingly.
