You can claim as many children dependents as you have. You will get a dependent exemption for each, you will get child tax credit for children 16 or younger, Child and Dependent care credit has a maximum dollar amount. And for the EIC, you get credit for 3, but there is no increase in EIC for more than 3 dependents.

You may be referring to the Earned Income Tax Credit.  You are given credit for up to three children under this benefit.

Please see the enclosed IRS publication.

Under the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 the value of dependents was lowered to $0 per dependent but the standard deductions were all increased substantially.

Under the Child Tax Credit, each qualifying child could be eligible for a $2,000 credit against your taxes owed.

Under the Credit for Other Dependents, each dependent could be eligible for a $500 credit against your taxes owed.
