How does the 2021 $15,000 new homebuyer credit work?

What $15,000 new homebuyer credit?   Where did you see anything about a new homebuyer credit for 2021?  There is no federal new homebuyer credit---that ended in 2010.   Does your state have a new homebuyer credit that you are looking for?

There used to be a new homebuyers credit that applied to federal income tax returns, but it expired in 2010, so it is no longer available. There may be legislation passed in the future, but as of now, there is no first-time homebuyers credit available on federal income tax returns.

Such a bill was introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives back in April of 2021, but never went any further.
