How do we deduct mortgage income interest on NYC coop apartment if we do not have a 1098?

We were sent a letter from the coop CPA with the per share interest deduction, but we don't have the 1098   How do we include this in our tax return through turbotax?

It seems as though your cooperative has given you a 1098 or the equivalent of one that shows your portion of the mortgage interest.

If they did not specify the name of the mortgage lender, it would be appropriate to just list the name of your housing cooperative, or you can simply call the board and ask them for the name.

In TurboTax, to include your mortgage interest information:

  • Federal Taxes
  • Deductions & Credits
  • Your Home
  • Mortgage Interest, Refinancing, and Insurance, click Start
  • Enter Your Mortgage Lender- it could be the name of your housing cooperative, or you can simply call the board.
