How do I report earnings if I collect income for digits marketing services for a foreign (Japanese) company while I am stationed overseas?

Are you an employee? Or is it payments to your own business?

 

If any employee, go through the TT "wages" interview. It will ask you if you have a W2. Tell it no and it will ask questions similar to a W2 and put the info in the correct places.

 

You need to report your earnings in USD. See this link for info. Use the day of payment rate unless there are a lot and then you can use the average annual rate (link at bottom of this link).

 

You also may qualified for the Foreign Earned income exclusion or the foreign tax credit. The TT interview should take you there if you are careful. If not ask back and we can tell you how to get there directly (or search in this volunteer forum).

 

You say you were "stationed" overseas. If you are in the military there may be other benefits/rules that I don't know about.
