How do I get Form 4136 to populate correctly? I qualify for the credit. The form will not open when I answer how I qualify for the fuel tax credit.

To get Form 4136 to populate correctly:

• Type form 4136 in Search in the upper right
• Click jump to form 4136
• Say Yes on Credit For Nontaxable Fuel Usage
• On How You Qualify, the first two boxes only should be checked
  • I paid federal exercise tax on purchased fuel that I used during the year
  • I used the fuel in a nontaxable application

Excise taxes paid for off highway use may be claimed as a refund on Form 8849 or as a tax credit on Form 4136.

TurboTax does not support Form 8849.

You can claim the following taxes only as a credit on Form 4136:

• Fuel tax for nontaxable uses, if less than $750 for the year.
• Fuel tax not included in a previously filed refund claim.
• Fuel tax used in mobile machinery (off-highway business use) that traveled less than 7,500 miles on public highways.

Turbo Tax for Business says that form 4136 is not available because it has not been updated, however the IRS website lists it as ready to use, what is the answer?

Form 4136 is available @rghornstra. Check to see if TurboTax Business is up to date by tapping Online > Check for Updates.

To access Form 4136

1. Tap Forms in the top right
2. Tap Open Form in the left column
3. Enter 4136 in the search box
4. Highlight Form 4136: Credit for Federal Tax Paid on Fuels and Open Form
5. Enter your info in the form
6. When you dare done, tap Step-by-Step at the top to return to the interview mode

This still does not work, form is still marked "Do Not file" after doing updates.

Which tax form are you using, 1120, 1041, etc?

For TurboTax Download/CD, on your menu bar at the very top, click “Online” and then “Send Tax File to Agent”.  When you click to send, you will get a pop-up with the token number. Post the token number here.

We did not see any issues with Form 4136.  You should save your .tax file and make a copy in another folder (or even better in a cloud folder or thumb drive) just in case. Then uninstall and reinstall the program and let it run a big update to see if that will fix it. Sometimes the updates can get stuck
