How do I enter a donation of a gift card to a charity?

Is a gift card considered a gift of money or an item? IF it is an item, what category do I use?

You should list the Gift Card donation as a cash donation. 

 

A Gift Card is the equivalent of cash.

 

  • While signed in and working in TurboTax
  • Click on Federal in the left-hand black menu
  • Click on Deductions and Credits
  • Scroll down and click on Show More next to Charitable Donations
  • Click on Start or Revisit next to Donations to Charity in 2019
