If you have TurboTax Deluxe or higher, importing your ItsDeductible donations is easy. Here’s how:

  1. Open or continue your return in TurboTax.
  2. Search for donations and select the Jump to link.
  3. Answer Yes to Did you make any donations to charity?
  4. On the next screen, answer Yes to Do you have an account with ItsDeductible Online?
  5. Your donations will automatically load as long as you're using the same account for both ItsDeductible and TurboTax. On the next screen, select which donations you want to import and select Import Now.
  6. Select Continue and review your charities on the next screen.

If you make changes to Its Deductible and want to import again, start again at step 2 above.

Note: TurboTax Free Edition and TurboTax Live Basic don't support Schedule A, which you’ll need to report charitable donations in ItsDeductible.

If you have an account with Its Deductible Online, to see instructions, click here: It's Deductible

Note that your charitable donations only affect your refund if you have a LOT of other itemized deductions like mortgage interest and property taxes, etc.  In the TurboTax program, when you enter itemized deductions such as mortgage interest, property taxes, medical expenses, charitable contributions, all of these items are added together. Unless the total of itemized deductions exceeds the standard deduction for your filing status, you would not see any change in tax due or refund.

I suspect you are using the desktop version of Premier (CD/download), since you originally mentioned the File menu and Import menu.   "Online TurboTax" is displayed underneath your original question, but I suspect that is in error based on what you said.

There are 2 varieties of ItsDeductible available to you, depending on what your overall goal is and if you want to keep a record and track donations throughout each year, and then import into TurboTax at tax time.

There is a built-in version of ItsDeductible in the desktop software (Deluxe and higher) that one can use at the time of preparing one's return to value the donated items.   It's a popup applet and doesn't require importing since the items are entered and valued in realtime inside the TurboTax software.  We can tell you how to use that applet, if you wish to enter the items directly into TurboTax and value them.  If you have a lot of items, or if you want to enter them throughout the year as you make donations and them import them into TurboTax, the standalone website version discussed below is best.

There is a separate website for ItsDeductible where one can enter donations (items, money, stocks, etc.) throughout the year, then at tax time import them into the TurboTax program.   That website maintains a record of each year's donations.

If you want to enter your donations at the ItsDeductible website and then import them into TurboTax, here's the link.

Perfect!  Thanks.  I set up our 2021 cash and non cash donation charities easily with the link you sent me.

I have been sent three times in a circle, and still do not have an answer to my question, nor have I received the personal phone call that I was promised over 30 minutes ago.   I have to admit this is getting frustrated, particularly since I have only four more days to submit my return.

Sorry, but I don't know what "three times in a circle" refers to, and we don't know what your question is.  This is the only recent posting I can find for you in this forum in regard to ItsDeductible, and you didn't mention what problem you are having or what product you are using.    Are you using desktop software (CD/download) or Online TurboTax (web version), and what is your issue with ItsDeductible?  Do you need to know how to get to the right place to import?

If you're using desktop software, is it for Windows or Mac?

This is a user community forum, so we can't help with any phone call you were expecting, but we might be able to suggest something here.

Thanks for the info.  How do I access the desktop version of Its Deductible.  I have TurboTax Premier 2024.

Here's how:

From the Left side menu select Tax Tools choose "Tools"
pop up screen "Tools Center"
select "Topic List"
Your Deductions & Credits
"Tax Breaks"
scroll down to "Import ItsDeductible Online".

TurboTax is working to improve the process, but in the meantime, please only use alphabet letters and spaces in your ItsDeductible descriptions. Removing any special characters, including quotes, apostrophes, etc. will allow for a successful import.
