Per IRS, code 29 on a Form 1042-S is for reporting interest from your bank accounts.  You would treat it as if you receive a Form 1099-INT :

  1. Login to your TurboTax Account
  2. Click "Take Me To My Return"
  3. Click on the Search box on the top and type “1099INT”.
  4. Click on “Jump to 1098INT”
  5. On "Did you receive any interest income?" screen answer "Yes" to continue to follow prompts
  6. On "Let's get 1099-INT or brokerage statement details" screen enter the interest amount in box 1.
  7. If you had federal tax withheld then click on the checkmark next to "My form has info in more than just box 1 (this is uncommon)" and enter it in box 4.

I am in a similar situation with 1042-S income code 29. After enlisting this as another 1099-INT, do I need to mail a paper copy or can I file the taxes electronically?
