There is no way to tell before filing your tax return if your daughter is listed as a dependent on someone else's tax return. If your daughter qualifies as your dependent, she should be included on your return.

Once you are sure that your daughter qualifies as your dependent this year, you should include her on your return. If you receive an error that someone else has already claimed her, you will not be able to e-File your return, but you can still print and mail it to the IRS to receive the proper credit.
