From some of the automated help-article recommendations, the link regarding 8911 states the below:
If you buy a battery-powered car and install new EVCSE at your main home to recharge its batteries, you may be able to trim your tax bill through the Alternative Fuel Vehicle Refueling Property Credit.
The maximum credit is $1,000 or 30 percent of the installation cost, whichever is lower. Should you move to a new home during the year and install recharging equipment at the new residence, you can claim 30 percent of the cost of both installations up to a maximum of $2,000.
And in our scenario, believe our total install was somewhere in the range of ~$2400...so presumably we would receive a credit of ~$720...
But TurboTax online indicates that our credit is $0...
Thoughts as to why? Does TurboTax online support claiming this credit?
Yes, TurboTax does support the Alternative Vehicle Refueling Property Credit. The most common reason would be that you did not have a tax liability. This is a non refundable credit, so it will bring your tax liability down to $0, but will not result in a refund of more than you paid in. The other reason is that you entered it in the incorrect location.
