Got this message, "the IRS is still working on finishing up the Foreign Tax Credit (Form 1116) for 2021." When will this be updated?

When will Form 1116 be updated in Turbo Tax.  Looks like IRS has already updated it.

The form 116 will be available in TurboTax on 3/3/22.  Once the IRS approves the form then TurboTax has to get the form ready to use with their software.

You can check the following lists, it will have information when the forms will be available.

According to IRS the form has been done over a month ago.  So I think this is more a TurboTax issue

Hi,

IRS already has this form.

Why does Turbotax keep saying it's not available from IRS? This is very misleading. If there is a problem, let us know what the real problem is and give us appropriate updates.

I checked the "forms availability" a week ago, it said 2/24-25. So I've waited hoping to have this done now. Instead, it now says 3/3 without any explanation. The program keeps saying the same message blaming the IRS despite Turbotax own problem.

When will this be resolved?

We have deadlines (by the end of Feb), too.

Thanks,

You won't need 1116 if the foreign tax credit is less than $300/single or $600/MFJ. If you tax credit is below these amounts, you can delete the form and file without it.

Worked for me. . .

Thank you for the suggestion.

However, I did try to delete the form but couldn't find a way to enter the credit without the form.

After deleting the form, I tried to redo the "Foreign tax" and the program still says the form 1116 is not ready.

Finally, I gave up because I don't want to miss my deadline as I need to use the return for something else.

I'll have to amend it later.

I'm very disappointed that Turbotax message keeps saying the same thing without offering options rather than to keep on waiting (after delaying so many times). Moreover, I don't understand why it's so complicated to have it fixed within the scheduled time. Again, the form is available on IRS.gov but Turbotax keeps blaming IRS for this.

Except now the turbox tax form availability link says 3/31 (for MacOS users anyway) and efile is not supported.

This is very disappointing.

The information on the 1116 Sch B has changed.  It now shows as available om March 10 and available for efile.

Here is the schedule for the release of state forms for original returns.
