Form 8889, HSA contributions and deductions: Part 1 question 3: I am not sure how to review the question that lead up to the credit. now I am not sure that I answered it correctly.

What question? Are you making direct entries on the 8889? Why? There is no credit anywhere on the 8889. What credit are you referring to?

I resolved my own question by reviewing the IRS instructions for the form.  I will withdraw the question from the site.
