You can't deduct 2106 expenses this year unless you're in one of those groups.

This, from Form 2106, Employee Business Expenses:

for use only by Armed Forces reservists, qualified performing artists, fee-basis state or local government officials, and employees with impairment-related work expenses

I am having the same issue. I am an educator and have expenses, but they don't look like they qualify under any of those options. Not sure what to do.

To deduct the Educator expenses:

  • Go to Federal Taxes
  • Go Deductions and Credits.
  • Scroll down to Employment Expenses and click show more.
  • Click Start next to Teacher (Educator) expenses.
