Form 1040-Line 12B - changed to $600 (Deluxe CD Version)

Turbo Tax Deluxe CD Version - as of 2/21/22

I changed live 12B on form 1040 to $600. Everything seemed fine. Forms look fine. I cannot file the taxes, though! I've gone through and entered all my bank and proof of ID information. I got this message: "We need to make one more check. Everything looks great on your return. We've double-checked it for accuracy and to make sure you got all tax breaks you deserve. Before you e-file, we need a little more information that we didn't need earlier." I clicked "continue" and it takes me back to the "check this entry" page showing "charitable contributions has an unacceptable value!" Line 12 b has $600. I click "continue" then "Transmit Returns Now" and I'm hung up in a loop. Has this bug not been fixed? Can anyone help me get this resolved? Thanks!

You want to report the $600 on Federal 1040 line 12b but it does not like how it was entered.

Try removing the entry in Forms mode, then re-entering the $600 deduction after the screen The Standard Deduction is right for you!

In TurboTax Desktop version, follow these steps to enter the Federal 1040 line 12b Charitable Cash Contributions under CARES Act.

  • Go to Forms mode and delete the incorrect entry for line 12b on the 1040 Worksheet.
  • Return to Step-by-Step and click on Federal Taxes / Deductions & Credits / I'll Choose what I work on but do not enter the charitable donation.
  • Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on Done with Deductions.
  • You will see the screen The Standard Deduction is right for you!  Click Continue.
  • At the screen titled Getting a tax break for donating cash to charity, make sure that the box contains the amount of the deduction for which you qualify.  Click Continue.
  • At Other Tax Situations, scroll to the bottom of the page and click on Done with Other.
  • Continue through Federal Review and Smart Check.

Go to Forms to view the Federal 1040 line 12b for the charitable deduction.
