Forcing me to complete an 8812 form

Hello,

I am using Turbo Tax deluxe for my 2021 Federal Tax Return and when I do the SMART CHECK it presents me with errors on the 8812 form.  I do not know why I need this form, it is just a married filing joint return with no other dependents.

It also has lines 1 and 3 filled in with a dollar amount, which I have no idea where that amount originated.

It is not my total income.

Did I fill something in incorrectly to have these 2 errors display?

Line B1 wants ADVANCE CHILD TAX CREDIT PAYMENTS RECEIVED FROM LETTER 6419 - TAXPAYER   and

Line B2 wants ADVANCE CHILD TAX CREDIT PAYMENTS RECEIVED FROM LETTER 6419 - SPOUSE

I do not think I should have any Child Tax Credits .

Thank you

You may have answered yes to a question along the way.

To clear this issue and delete form 8812 click the following:

  • Tax Tools
  • Tools
  • Delete a form
  • Delete next to form 8812  and any worksheets that mention dependents. Delete worksheets first.

hank you for your response.   I ended up putting a zero in the 2 fields that Turbo Tax wanted me to fill in on the 8812 form and then ran the Smart Check again and I now have no errors.

Before doing that, I tried looking for the 8812 form in my list of forms for my return and it was not listed.

Anyway the problem seems to be solved.

Thank you
