For my return, itemized deductions for state of Hawaii is higher than standard deduction, but Turbo tax is posting the standard deduction - is there a way to fix this?

Itemized deductions even after AGI limitation are higher than the standard, but Turbo tax is only offering the standard deduction which is lower. Is there a way to forced the itemized deduction which is more correct in my case

If you are using an online version, contacting Support might be your best option.

For background, are you itemizing or using the standard deduction on your Federal return?  Are you certain the itemized deductions for Hawaii are higher than the Standard?  If so, when you go to Deductions & Credits, click done, are you presented with the option to change what Turbotax has selected?

Aloha, thank you for your interest. For Federal the standard deduction was better for 2021. I completed the Hawaii return manually including the worksheets and itemized deduction is higher for Hawaii. I have already paid for the state return in TT but don’t think I should have to pay since it does not give you an option to make a choice and does not show you the pathway to the choice TT makes and most importantly appears to be incorrect.  If insight to this is helpful! I saw an error last year too but let it go because the amount was small. This year it was about 800.00.
