ETNs (Exchange Traded Notes) are considered as what type of investment dropdown in the Sales Info section?

The dropdown options are:
-Stock
-Mutual fund, Index Fund, or ETF
-Bond
-Options
-Land
-Collectible
-Personal Items
-Other

**It's either Index Fund or Other, just not clear on which one. The ETN in question is "JO" the coffee ETN that tracks the commodity index fund, but is not an index fund itself. Should I use Other?

An ETN will be recorded like a Mutual fund, Index Fund, or ETF.  Most closely an Index Fund.

  • Exchange-traded notes (ETNs) are types of unsecured debt securities that track an underlying index of securities.
  • ETNs trade on a major exchange like a stock.
  • ETNs are similar to bonds but do not pay periodic interest payments.
  • Investors can buy and sell ETNs and make money from the difference between the purchase and sale prices, minus any fees.
