The way I read the credit rules for energy efficient doors, it sounds like you could get a $500 credit per door, as long as the cost of the door (excl. tax and installation costs) was over that amount. I just did the preliminary tax prep for 2023, and the tool asked for the cost of the door (singular) and estimated the credit at $500. I replaced 3 doors, so I was thinking the estimated credit would be $1500. Could someone please clear this up for me?
The forms for energy credits are not ready yet, so you are not going to get reliable results at this time. Wait until the energy credit forms are ready in mid-January.
Much of the 2023 program is still under construction and there will be many many updates to come in the next couple of weeks. There are no bugs or program errors until after the estimated date of availability which you can check by either clicking on the REVIEW tab in the program or going online here : https://form-status.app.intuit.com/tax-forms-availability/formsavailability?albRedirect=true&product...
For energy-efficient doors in 2023, the credit is limited to $250 per door with a maximum total of $500. The latest revision of the credit has a number of limitations based on the specific property types. You can find more information about that HERE.
