Employed in OR. Working@home in WA. Can I claim exempt on OR taxes while at home and revert when in the office again to avoid paying OR taxes?

My job is refusing to change anyone's status to remote or change any tax-related information as they are assuming we will eventually go back to the office. However, I want to avoid giving OR an interest-free loan as I would be receiving all WA-related income at the end of the year back from OR. If/Once we all go back to the office I can change my filing with OR. If I claim exempt I want to make sure this wouldn't cause any unexpected issues when filing taxes next year.

If you are physically working in WA and a resident of WA, then you are not subject to OR tax on the wages earned while working in WA

Your approach is rational - claim exemption from OR tax while working remotely from WA, and resume OR withholding when you have to go back to the OR office.

I appreciate you taking the time to respond! I figured this was the best approach but wanted input from folks who know more about taxes than I do. Again, thank you!
