earned income credit

It was my understanding that a single ind. with no children qualifies for a EIC if their income is below $17,640.  Turbo tax is saying do not qualify for EIC with $3,300 in wages (W-2), $2,200 1099-INT and Social Security Benefits of $15,500 (which as I understand it.. do not qualify as income in the calculation).  Why wouldn't I qaulify?

Sorry----it is also about the total amount of your income--including the Social Security -- not just the amount earned from working.   You had too much income to be eligible for EIC.
