During my work-related move I subletted an apartment for one month while searching for a home. Is this expense considered a moving expense?

No. You can deduct the cost of transportation and lodging for yourself and members of your household while traveling from your former home to your new home.

This IRS Publication has helpful information about what exactly you can deduct and what you can't:  IRS Pub 521 Moving Expenses
