Does a dependent child with down syndrome qualify as disabled?

Yes, a dependent with Down's Syndrome may be considered disabled. 

 

The IRS definition of a disabled person is one who can't engage in substantial gainful activity because of their mental or physical condition, and that condition is expected to last one year or more, or result in death. 

 

If you aren't sure if your dependent meets this standard, check with your dependent's doctor.
