Do I still need to upgrade to turbotax deluxe because I have an HSA, even if I did not make any HSA distributions and did not receive any forms from them?

I did not make any disbursements and did not receive any 1099-SA forms or other forms, yet I cannot file without upgrading to TurboTax Deluxe. I did before and filled out the HSA section only for that to be $0 of income and not having any forms to submit. I downgraded because it did not affect anything. Why can't I file?

Please see this Turbo Tax help article for more information.
Important offer details and disclosures -Simple tax returns

If you qualify for the Simple Free Edition you may want to go through your return and remove the 1099-SA if entered or revisit that section to ensure you answered no and not yes to this tax situation.

If you made contributions or withdrawals, that requires filing from 8888, which is not included in Free Turbotax.  You may find there are other tax services that would allow you to file for free, depending on your income and other situations.

Form 8889, not Form 8888.
