Do I need to fill out "Part IV" section of 8862? I'm married & filled jointly. Thanks. Got IRS letter requesting 8862 & 1095-A Forms. Completing 8862 by myself.

Do I need to fill out the "Part IV" Allocation of Policy Amounts section of 8862?

I'm married and filled jointly with my wife. Thanks.

I assume you mean Form 8962.

Part IV is only used if the 1095-A covers somebody that is not on your tax return.

Do I need to fill out part iv of the 8962 form if I filled single with no dependents, and I’m the only on one the policy?

Regardless of your status, if you got a letter from the IRS requesting the 8962 and a copy of the 1095-A, then you don't have a choice here. You are "required" to provide those forms if you want you receive any refund you may be due.

If you are listed by name on someone else's 1095-A (such as your parent's) then you will need a copy of that 1095-A from your parents.

IF a 1095-A with your name on it was not issued to you, your parents or someone else, that indicates that you are NOT covered under a MarketPlace healthcare plan. In such a case the 1095-A is not required since it's not possible to provide something that was never issued. You will need to call the phone number in the letter you received to discuss your options. Good luck getting a human.
