Last year, when taking a foreign tax credit, I accidentally entered the wrong amount in the 'Foreign-Source Income' box. This meant that I did not receive the full foreign tax credit. The remaining amount did, however, carryover to this year, so it would seem that everything balanced out in the end. But is it ok to proceed this way, or do I have to forego the carryover this year and amend last year's return? It seems like a lot of trouble to go through in order to achieve the same result.
