I entered my total city/county personal property taxes for my home in the home office section for business expenses. When I get to the "Deductions & Credits" section ("Enter any additional property tax paid in 2022", it says "Don't enter your home office deduction, $n,nnn is already included. You can change this". In the "Property taxes on your main home" field on that form it shows $0.00. I would expect it to show the prorated value of the total less the amount credited to the Sched C business home office deduction. The "$n,nnn" value that shows in the "Don't enter your home office deduction" comment on this page is the correct value for the sum total of city and county property taxes I entered in the home office deduction section.
If I try to leave the value as $0.00 on that form and click the "Continue" button I am presented with a screen that says "We need a bit more info to see if you qualify" and below that "$ Checking for Property (Real Estate) Tax Deduction". On that screen I can either click "Back", "Skip for now", or "Enter info". If I click the "Enter info" button I am taken back to the same form as the "Back" button, so it is a vicious circle. If I "Go to Forms" from that point I am taken to Schedule A and line 2 (State and local real estate taxes) item "a" (Real estate taxes paid on principal residence not entered on Form 1098 shows a value of $0.00 in red with light yellow background highlighting. I should note that my property taxes and insurance are not withheld in escrow and thus are not accounted for in my mortgage payments or my 1098.
I can't go any further until this issue is resolved. I greatly appreciate any and all assistance.
Best Regards,
Ted
