Covid disaster distribution - split the amount into 3 years - how do I enter in Turbo tax this year

hi. Last year we did a covid disaster distribution where we paid tax on 1/3 of amount. Turbo tax does not seem to be handling the balance this year. Help.

Please follow the steps below:

  1. Log in to your account.
  2. Select Federal Taxes.
  3. Go to wages and Income
  4. Scroll down to Retirement Plans and Social Security
  5. Select Start/Revisit next to IRA, 401(k), Pension Plan Withdrawals (1099-R)
  6. Answer No to the question Did you get a 1099-R in 2021?
  7. Answer Yes Have you ever taken a disaster distribution before 2021?
  8. Answer Yes Did you take a 2020 Qualified Disaster Distribution?
  9. On the next screen enter the information from your 2020 Form 8915E.

Step #6 states to say no if you received a 1099-r for 2021 but that question never gets asked?

It will not be asked if you have already entered a 2021 Form 1099-R and there is a form listed on the screen Your 1099-R Entries.  If there is a form listed and you did not enter the form, then delete the form.
