"Cash Charitable Too Large" Error

Is anyone else receiving this error? I'm on the final review, and it's stuck on the 10b charitable contribution amount. I have entered exactly 300, as directed, but it keeps saying the amount is too large (in fact, it seems to think anything over 0 is too large!). Thoughts?

Bumping up! Is this a current issue with TurboTax that others are experiencing or have I just misunderstood and put something in entirely wrong?

This is a know bug and has been reported.  Go ahead and clear the amount entered.

Go back to the Deductions & Credit section for charitable donations and enter the cash contribution in that section.  That should correct the problem.

To enter charitable donations -

  • Click on Federal Taxes (Personal using Home and Business)
  • Click on Deductions and Credits
  • Click on I'll choose what I work on (if shown)
  • Scroll down to Charitable Donations
  • On Donations to Charity in 2020, click on the start or update button

Or enter charitable donation in the Search box located in the upper right of the online program screen. Click on Jump to charitable donation

I'm having this issue as well.

If l clear this value, it reduces my ~$60 from my federal refund.

Is there anyone from TurboTax to comment on this bug/issue or the mistake I'm doing?

Unbelievable how difficult is to get help from Turbo Tax..

Go back to the Deductions & Credit section for charitable donations and enter the cash contribution in that section.  That should correct the problem.

Doing it this way as opposed to waiting until the end of that section should solve your issue.

Thanks Critter-3

but the only way it worked was deleting all charitable entries (total of $500) in Deductions and Credit section and then adding $300 in the end of the process where it ask if there was any charitable contributions.

After doing this, the refund increased by ~$60.

Unsure however if that would cause any problems. It does not make any sense having to remove all contributions and only add $300 in the end.
