I am using 2024 desktop deluxe desktop version. For the self employment part, I selected schedule C to input my Uber driver information. But I can't find the entry "Milage" in the form. I can see "Expense" part. Does it mean I calculate the expense by myself? Say, I drove 20000 miles in 2024, so the expense was 20000*0.67?
Or, I have to updated my version from Deluxe to the Business version?
Thanks.
Once you are entering information for your Schedule C, you go to the Vehicle Expense section to report information about the vehicle you used for business purposes. As you fill in that section of information, your business miles and total miles for the year will be part of the inputs.
You should not do the calculation yourself and enter it as a business expense. TurboTax will ask you the relevant questions in order to be sure you are qualified to claim the mileage expense when you go through the Vehicle Expense section.
If you are using TurboTax Online, then you will be required to upgrade to a higher version in order to claim business expenses.
