TurboTax will estimate a sales tax deduction for you.  Sales Tax is an itemized deduction, so if you are taking the standard deduction, the sales tax amount will be not be factored into your tax return.  It will be listed on Schedule A along with any other itemized deductions you enter, but will only be included on your 1040 if you elect to itemize deductions.

If you would like to update your sales tax information or use your 'actual' tax paid instead of the estimate, return to the sales tax area in TurboTax.  The easiest way to get back there is to type 'sales tax' into the search bar and use the 'Jump to' link.
