Taxpayers are eligible for a credit of 30% of the hardware and installation costs for EV chargers installed at their homes in 2022, limited to $1,000.

To enter an energy-efficient vehicle tax credit:

  • Click on Federal Taxes (Personal using Home & Business)
  • Click on Deductions and Credits
  • Click on I'll choose what I work on (if shown)
  • Scroll down to Cars and Other Things You Own
  • On Energy-Efficient Vehicle Charging Station, click the start or update button

What is the entry asking for "Amt. of Kilowatt Hours"? Does this refer to the amount of electricity I used to charge my car in 2022?

Please clarify where you are in the program:

Your question was:  What is the entry asking for "Amt. of Kilowatt Hours"?

  • I do not see this on the Energy-Efficient Vehicle Charging Station input screens.
  • Where does this question come up?
  • When do you see it?
