Unfortunately, the
costs of the exam and prep course are not deductible as either a business expense or an
education expense. According to the IRS, an expense "that will
qualify you for a new trade or business isn't qualifying work-related
education."
If you paid a
separate fee for the license itself, that can be deducted as a business expense or job-related expense.
