Can I e-file if I made a qualified charitable deduction?

Will the IRS require documentation on the QCD I'm claiming? If so, does that mean I have to mail my tax return (instead of e-filing) and provide the documentation as attachment to Form 1040-SR?

You can e-file the tax return with the Form 1099-R you used for the QCD.

The IRS will only require documentation if they ever question your QCD, so keep all your documentation with your other tax paperwork.

Here's more info on QCD's you may find useful.

I made a QCD in 2023 and was able to efile, no problem.

If you are over 70 1/2 and enter a 1099R for a IRA distribution it will ask if it was a Qualified Charitable Distribution.  Be sure you check the little IRA box between boxes 7&8.  It will show up on the 1040 line 4b as 0 with the QCD by it.
