Can I deduct energy-saving home improvements from 2015

You can't deduct improvements you made in 2015 on your 2016 tax return. Instead, you can amend your 2015 tax return to claim an energy credit for 2015 improvements (or file a 2015 return if you haven't done so already). Please see Costs on page 1 of IRS Instructions for Form 5695, Residential Energy Credits  for more information.
