Why are you paying it? Do you have an equitable interest?

I have the same problem. Paying it because house was inherited and payment due, but tax year ended before name was changed with the tax office.

You have an  "equitable interest", in the property,  and can deduct the Real estate tax you pay. You can also deduct the mortgage interest you pay.

If you do not own the property, then you cannot deduct the property taxes on your return.
