Can I claim my only residence in the state I own my only home in, even though i spend most of my time as sole caretaker of invalid mother in her home in another state?

I have no desire to be a resident of my moms state (Illinois), I am only down here to take care of her, all my assets are in Wisconsin and I plan on returning there when mom passes

If you did not earn any money in Illinois, you do not have to file an Illinois return.  You only need to file a state tax return for your resident state.
