Can I claim? I have to buy shoes to work every few month r/t autoimmune disease. I have dx of PPP and only shoes that i have found helps. They are not from medical

facility. They just work for me and am able to walk with flare ups

It depends. They would only be deductible if they are used to treat the medical condition, and only the excess of the amount over regular shoes.

 

Note that in order to claim medical expenses you must itemize deductions and only the expenses over 7.5% of your AGI are deductible. This is typically a difficult hurdle to overcome for taxpayers.
