Best Way to Handle Ticket Donations

I donated several sets of NHL tickets to Vet Tix this year, and received a receipt for each donation.  Do I enter it as a monetary donation or an item donation, what's the best way to maximize this?

It depends. If you paid cash for the tickets than it would be a cash donation.  Another example is if you buy food and give it to a charitable organization it is a cash donation.

Please update here if you need further assistance to clarify how you acquired the tickets.

Thank you for your prompt response Diane, I really appreciate it.  I am a season ticket holder, so I paid cash for the donated tickets.  I couldn't make a few games so I wanted to donate them to an organization that honored our veterans and first responders.  I received nothing in return except a receipt and a picture of smiling people enjoying the experience
