2nd half of Child Tax Credit doesn’t seem to be matching with my refund

We have a family income of $103k and 2 dependent children under 6 for 2021. We received the initial $3600 advanced credit payments but now our refund is approx $2300 but should have an additional $3600 child tax credit remaining. Why would our refund not reflect that? No taxes owed from prior years, we did have an early 401k withdrawal but the taxes were withheld at the time of withdrawal.

Please check your 1040 form. The remaining amount of CTC that you can receive will show up on line 28 of your 2021 Form 1040.

Also you don't necessarily get a refund. The credit will reduce your tax bill first just like any other credit.

To preview you 1040 form :

  1. Select Tax Tools than Tolls from the left menu.
  2. Next, select View Tax Summary in the pop-up, then Preview my 1040 in the left menu.
