After entering the cash donation in the Deductions & Credits section under Charitable Donations you must complete the Deductions & Credits section.  After the program has shown you that you are receiving the Standard Deduction complete the Other Tax Situations section.  When in Federal Review complete the Stimulus Payments section.  The cash contribution should now be on the Form 1040 Line 10b.

I had the same problem.  I solved it by accident by going through ever single line of the Deductions and Credits section and the very last item will move the up to $300 directly to the 1040.  It had been bugging me for days!

IMO, this should be built in to the software because it can see if you have charitable contributions and also that you are taking the standard deduction.

I use TT Premier desktop.  I followed all the advise re:entering the $300 charitable deduction so that it shows up on line 10b on 1040SR. However, the $300 also shows up on the Social Security Benefits Worksheet line 6 which is for "Amount from Schedule 1, lines 10 through 19, plus any write-in amounts on Schedule 1, line 22 (other than foreign housing deduction)" and there is no Schedule 1 when I save as PDF with "Tax Return, all calculation worksheets"

THEN I followed advise on how to enter a 1099-INT early withdrawal penalty and saved as PDF as above and Schedule 1 shows up and the amount on lines 17 and 22 is correct and shows on 1040SR Line 10a. However the amount on Social Security Benefits Worksheet line 6 is the amount on Schedule 1 line 22 plus $300.

Yes it is correctly calculated in Turbo Tax. The Early Withdrawal Penalty is added to the $300 charitable contribution amount to reduce your taxable social security benefits. This is a good thing for you.

The $300 cash charitable deduction for those taking the standard duction is supposed to, indeed, show up on the Social Security taxable benefit worksheet, line 6.  Turbotax says it is getting that line 6 number from Schedule 1, lines blah-blah-blah.  Turbotax is actually getting that number from line 10b, form 1040-SR, and that is correct.  If you have a 1040 instruction booklet (the old fashioned, printed copy) for 2020, it spells out that the SS worksheet, line 6, includes your $300 cash contribution.  TT's source for line 6 simply does not show where the number is coming from.
